Shelton, Conn -- Transwitch Corp. has introduced the VTXP-24 switching chip for next-generation multi-service provisioning platforms, packet add/drop multiplexing and SONET/SDH optical edge devices. The VTXP-24 supports data, voice and video services over existing fiber and network infrastructures.
The VTXP-24 integrates a non-blocking, cross-connect switch and framing/mapping/pointer-processing from the TU-11/VT1.5 level through VC4-4c/STS-12c, and can be used to switch any SONET/SDH level. It provides performance monitoring, intermediate path monitoring, and reporting capabilities on all virtual tributaries and SPE signals.
The VTXP-24 is compatible with the Advanced Telecom Computing Architecture (ATCA). It integrates a high-speed SerDes, allowing it to interface to the VTXP-48 and PHAST-48V family of products.Using the independent dual telecom buses, it gluelessly connects to EtherMap, PHAST and PDH mapper devices, while the integrated SONET/SDH framers support MSPRing/BLSR and SNCP/UPSR network protection schemes.
"The VTXP-24 has been designed to optimize the total cost of system ownership in light of carrier requirements for triple and quadruple play. Its support for data, voice and video services maximizes the ROI of existing fiber and network infrastructure, and facilitates the migration to the IP network infrastructure," said Radu Iorgulescu, director of Product Management for TranSwitch, in a statement.
